Right To Know!

We have an indisputable right to know what is happening to our comrades fighting for us, unless that right to know interferes with their right to privacy--namely, information that the enemy must not have. Since it is that same enemy that is attacking these lightly manned bases it is already obvious to them that the US does not have enough men and the ones we do have are dying because of it!
That is why General McCrystal is so publicly adamant about it.

A Battle of Hearts and Minds?

Maybe the problem is the application of the "Hearts and Minds" approach in Afghanistan.

The Real Loss of Leadership

About the time they were burying Senator Kennedy we lost what amounts to just another future leader.
How many will it take? How many can we afford to lose?

Cui Bono?

Who benefits? We will not be safer for the actions in Afghanistan. We will suffer from the debt and destruction of our military. The citizens of Afghanistan are already suffering as are those who have lost loved ones on both continents. Cui Bono--who benefits?

Pyrrhic Victory

Another society has discovered the nuances of Democracy. Or should we say discovered what Democracy USA is like.When it is all said and done, how many citizens of Afghanistan will consider Democracy USA style worth the cost?

Number of Heroes Increase

The death toll has increased which means the list of our Heroes just got longer. Not to say that their fight is not our fight, but to remind us all of the great debt this country owes to all who give their life for ours! Whether you agree with the actions in Afghanistan or not, please never reduce the cost these wonderful people are paying.
As a policy we try very hard to not show great bias in what we post where there is extreme division between the factions; therefore, we will not take sides in this issue even though we most certainly do have one.

NATO=US Military

Please do not forget that when you read of NATO soldiers dying in Afghanistan chances are they were American Military personnel--not that it should matter one single bit--our government knows that there was a time when the citizens of this country would not allow the killing of our military without the security of this country being of primary concern.
It would no longer appear that is true. Though the month of July lost more lives of our military personnel than at any other time since the invasion and August is obviously starting out to do the same; one must look long and hard for any disapproval from the populace of the US.
