Every day another article about how the worst is over with our economy. Who is it over for? Certainly not the regular folk who used to work for a living! Just another statistic telling us that sunny skies are here again, but nothing tangible. It will never be tangible like it was, and the government needs to level with its citizens. The truth is we need to realize that the lifestyle the citizens of this country have gotten used to over the last two decades is over for most of us--90% of us.
Our economy is going to hurt most of us for a long time and we need to get real with that immediately! Reducing your financial footprint as well as your carbon footprint will be essential. Living within ours means has not been fashionable for fifty years, however, it will need to come into vogue yesterday. In numbers we can do this much easier than as individuals, but that will be the biggest challenge.
It is inevitable that this new economy will materialize. The question is whether it will come in voluntarily or we will fight it until we lose.
